RESIDENTS IN the Byron Shire who are interested in, or concerned, about pest animals are encouraged to attend a community workshop at the Mullumbimby Civic Hall on 28 March.
The workshops will be organised like a café, where stakeholders will be encouraged to share their thoughts and experiences with pest animals in the Byron Shire, including foxes, wild dogs and feral cats.
“We are really keen for stakeholders, particularly land owners, to attend a workshop, so we can hear their views and tap into their knowledge about pest animals on their properties and how government agencies, community groups and individual landholders will share responsibility and work together to manage the impacts of pest animals,” Clare Manning, Byron Shire Council’s Biodiversity Officer, said.

“Pest animals have an impact on primary production and our natural environment creating biosecurity risks by spreading weeds and disease, preying on native animals and livestock as well as land erosion and waterway degradation,” she said.
The workshops will be held on Wednesday 28 March 2018 at the Mullumbimby Civic Hall from 12:30 – 3pm or 5:30 – 8pm.
Information from the workshops will be used to develop Council’s new Pest Animal Management Plan. Bookings are essential.
