A BUSHFIRE in the Tyagarah Nature Reserve, between the beach and the tea tree lakes, has been brought under control but not before burning out about three hectares.
According to the Rural Fire Service the fire broke out around 10.30 last Friday morning and was brought under control around 4.30 pm that afternoon.
No private property came under threat and, according to a post on the Grays Lane Facebook page, the burn was between the tea tree lake and the entrance gate and “seems to be largely the chaff on the ground.”
The reserve was closed until Saturday afternoon when it was observed that there was still one large tree glowing “fiery red.”
