“Back to Byron” Perfect Opportunity for Bayites & Byronians to Meet & Greet

  • Post category:Byron Bay

THE LONG-AWAITED "Back to Byron" Reunion on April 29, 2017 will be the perfect opportunity for old Bay residents who played a part in the town's growth in the 20th century to meet and greet more recent Byron Bay citizens.

Voice of Byron event co-ordinator, John Wright, said a person's love for Byron Bay is a slightly magical thing, similar to how people love Bali and keep returning to it.

"I have already heard of a few Facebook acquaintances promising to meet for the first time at the Reunion and have a good yarn over a couple of beers," says John.

The first two reunions were held under the KWIMABB banner, and this time Voice of Byron has taken over the reigns.

Event oraniser, Ray Lawlis, says there's a great lineup of talent on stage for the night.

'Tumbleweed, a popular local Byron Bay band in the early-mid 1960s, is reforming for the night, with Special Guest Zac Zytnick of Tamam Shud fame and local drummer John Coe from Myocum."

The night starts at 7pm with Brian Lee Watson from Kingscliff kicking the night off with a few tunes.

Next performers will be David and Julie Krause (Silverfox).

Many locals will remember Dave from his Mexican Micks days.

And Brisbane Rockstress Ellie Gee from local band Mojo will join Tumbleweed for their last three songs.

At the door will be a $5 donation jar. "Events like the Back to Byron Reunion Mark III don't happen without incurring quite a few expenses,"says Ray.
