John Wright
Born local – in the Byron Hospital, Bangalow – John lived his first 38 years in Byron Bay. During that time, he served his apprenticeship in Offset Lithographic Printing at RJ & J Wright, his parents’ print company, and then went on to run a variety of businesses in the Bay:
- John Wright Photographics Professional Photography
- John Wright Photos & Music Music Supplies and Accessories
- Byron Wholesale Picture Frames Wholesale Picture Framing
- Ultimate Graphics Graphic Design
- Wrightprint Commercial Printing
- The Byron News Owner/Editor
John sold up all his interests in Byron Bay in 1993 and lived two years in the island paradise of Bali.
On his return to Australia in 1995, he got a job with his old enemy, The Northern Star.
After 4 great years at The Star, John moved to the Gold Coast and accepted a 12-month contract at Gold Coast print firm Heaney’s Performers in Print, to upgrade their Pre-Press division. His changes turned their Pre-Press division from Heaneys’ leading loss-maker to their leading profit generator.
Next, John secured a New Enterprise Incentive Scheme (NEIS) grant to commence his current business which has now been running successfully since November 2000, with brands like Guaranteed Webs, Ultimate Graphics, Best SEO Services and The More Customers Group.
In 2010 John started the Facebook Group known as Know What I Miss About Byron Bay? and in mid-2015 he expanded his Facebook presence with the Voice of Byron suite of Byron-centred Groups:
- Voice of Byron
- Voice of Byron: Sport
- Voice of Byron: Busy Line
- Voice of Byron: Wholistic
- Voice of Byron: Food & Fun
Twelve months later John is experiencing the need for paid assistance in running the Voice of Byron groups. He plans to expand both the services offered and the number of people enjoying them.
A Crown Funding campaign has been launched, and detailed information is being provided as the campaign progresses.
