VERY SADDENED to note the passing of one of the Bay’s true locals… Tootie Dunn.
From her decades of providing music and joy to thousands of Bayites and visitors in her band, the Golden Tones, to teaching dance, and playing music at balls, functions and funerals, Tootie left her mark indelibly in the life and times of Byron Bay.
Personally, I had the honour in times past of filling in on bass in her Golden Tones band, and was also stoked that Tootie was able to play at my Dad’s funeral.
As time passes, we all mark the passing of our old mates from the Bay, but rarely has a loss affected so many of us, as losing Tootie.
Safe journey, old friend… John x0x0x0x
Elspeth Barbara (Toots) Dunn passed away peacefully after a long illness. She was the loved wife of Noel, mother and mother-in-law to Michelle and Butch, Kelven and Robyn and loved Grandmother of 4 and Great-grandmother of 3.
Tototie’s family expressed their thanks to Doctors James, Simring and Mumford for her care, and special thanks to the Renal Unit at Ballina and Lismore Hospitals and C6 Lismore Hospital.
She was privately cremated.
She was a good person. Loving Mother, Grandma, and mentor. Despite it being so long ago that she passed, she will be remembered regardless.
A lose of a true lady and a legend in the bay
