VOICE of BYRON regular, Benita Martin, has approached Voice of Byron with details of an alleged hit-and-run near Ewingsdale, Byron Bay.
Benita says, “On Monday evening a friend of mine was struck by a vehicle that was making a very dangerous move on the interchange of Byron over the motorway, which skittled him and his motorbike off the road.
He is hurt. His motorbike is damaged. The woman allegedly driver took off and did not stop at the scene.

My friend is a private person and wouldnt put out a call for help so Im doing it for him instead. He is a good person, a local and one of the old stalwarts of the area and doesnt deserve this.
Can we get this shared around the shire and beyond and help to find the driver who left my friend smashed into the roadside?
- Happened at 5.05 pm Mon 26th Feb.
- Location was at the motorway over pass at Byron. Just through the 2nd roundabout heading out of Byron and towards Bangalow.
- Vehicle was similar to a maroon/plum/burgundy Nissan XTrail, a 4WD type vehicle, perhaps 10 years old or more
- The driver’s side wing mirror is smashed off the vehicle. We have it and it’s from a Nissan XTrail.
- The car’s NSW rego may start with CT50
- There will be damage on the driver’s side of the vehicle as well.
- The driver was possibly a woman and may have had a black and white dog in the vehicle with her.
- She took off back into the roundabout and took the Myocum turn off so may be visiting or living in that direction.
The police have a camera in the area so there is likely footage of the incident. This may take some time to obtain.
Any info would be gratefully appreciated.
