VOICE of BYRON regular, Ric Wilson, has published alternate Byron Bay Bypass options in his Facebook feed.
Ric reckons there are still further viable options to be considered.
He says, “People of the Bay, it is time to consider these options and get them happening.

“Don’t let council tell you it is not an option!”

I’ve always thought that creating a bypass down Melaleuca Drive opposite the ‘Ozigo’ BP Station and skirting the wetlands is the obvious way to go. There is lots of technology these days so that any runoff from the road can be diverted and collected so it won’t affect the Cumbebin Swamp wetlands. Then it can rejoin the Butler Street reserve perhaps or go around the back and come out behind the cemetery or somewhere around there. From Melaleuca Drive it would be a real bypass.
Lydia Kindred, Please check out a map (preferably a detailed one showing constraints like wetlands) and show us a route that does what you recommend.
Otherwise, you’re dreamin’.
