IN A GESTURE which truly pays tribute to the stature of his achievements, Byron Shire Council has designated October 2 as Mark “Mono” Stewart Day.
Mono says, “I’m humbled. A huge thanks to everybody for your continued support of myself and Adaptive surfing.
“Special thanks to Byron Council for the day, which next year will be a huge fundraising day for our sport.”
As one good friend, Reid Johnston, said in his Facebook feed, “Mark-Mono Stewart is everything a great Australian should be. I’m proud to say I know this bloke.”
Thousands around the world would not hesitate to agree…
