VOICE of BYRON regular, Shai Myor, isn’t happy with Byron Shire Council’s approach to “illegal” garage sales.
Shai says, “Right now council workers are going around Byron targeting, with fines, garage sales that present items on the front lawn on the house or ‘outside the fence’.
“WTF? So this is what the “we are too poor to fix the potholes” council is spending our money on!
“Wake up, people!
“Behind the politically correct words lives an Orwellian Evil!
“It’s called: Social Nazism.
“It’s a war to sterilise Byron from the low-income class.
“Been goin’ on since house-holiday-lets became an industry, Centrelink services were taken down even though they got a huge office near the beach in town, local people living in their vans were targeted and alternative people living on their OWN land with teepees, mud brick shacks or their alternative ‘unapproved’ dwellings had their houses destroyed by council and police.
“But at least see it for what it is!
“At least the name of the ruling party of our shire is truthful: the Green$.
“So. Sad.”
For heavens sake, rates have increased, how much more do they want to squeeze out of this community?
To forbid people to sell off their own belongings in their own front yard, land which they have paid rates on is unbelievable.
What kind of community do Council want?
Really resent that my ever increasing rates go to pay Council rangers closing down these opportunities for young people to get together and recycle, oldies to downsize, everyone to buy affordable goods
This is unacceptable and truly quite shocking. Garage sales are a wonderful way for people to share unwanted goods for reasonable prices and meet others.
Ridiculous..first the once a year treasure trail/ clean out…..now this! Did the council vote on this ?
Starting to hate the mgmt of this shire….down the gurgler/ social cleansing… since the late nineties 😰😭👿
