BYRON BAY has been listed as the top worst town in New South Wales for drink driving offences.
According to NSW police statistics, there were 205 drink driving incidents in Byron Bay alone in the last 12 months, topping the list in first place.
Ballina came in seventh with 85 offences while Tweed Heads ranked 10th with 79 offences.
But there is a silver lining.

The overall rate of drink driving offences declined and none of the northern NSW suburbs made the top 10 list of worst suburbs for drug driving.
End of financial year statistics showed 1406 drivers were charged for drug driving and 1562 charged with drink driving.
Assistant Commissioner Michael Corboy of the state’s Traffic & Highway Patrol Command said the declining statistics indicated some drivers were getting the message but there were still too many drink and drug driving.
