COL HADWELL 01.08.1946 to 04.07.2017
Passed away as the result of a tragic accident. Late of Byron Bay.
A dearly loved Husband, Father, Grandfather, Brother and respected Friend to all.
Relatives and Friends are invited to attend a Celebration of Col's Life to be held at the Byron Bay Surf Club on FRIDAY (July 14, 2017) commencing at 11.00am. After the celebration a private cremation will take place.
A SAD TRAGEDY has befallen Byron Bay, with the loss of Col Hadwell on Tuesday, July 4 at 4pm in the Gold Coast Hospital.
Formerly one of the Shire's Town Planners, Col was a stalwart and Life Member of the Byron Bay Surf Life Saving Club, also a historian for the town.
He also wrote poetry and was well known for his bush poetry renditions.
He researched Harry Mercer's book, Byron Bay and the Story of Surf Life Saving, which was published to coincide with the opening of the new Byron Bay SLSC clubhouse on October 1, 1983.
Col will be sadly missed by friends and family.
To quote another local: "Col never had a bad word to say about anyone, and never had a bad word said about him."
