GOLD COAST Indonesian non-profit dance and cultural organisation, Seharum Nusantara Gold Coast, is holding the Gold Coast’s first Mother’s Day Multicultural Festival.

Seharum Nusantara spokesperson Thia Taylor said her group felt a truly multicultural Mother’s Day experience was long overdue on the Gold Coast.

“The depth of international culture on the Gold Coast is probably as strong as anywhere else in the world,” she said.

The Mother’s Day Multicultural Festival is set for 13th May, 10 am to 3 pm at the Broadwater Parklands on Marine Parade, Southport.

Mrs Taylor said there was already strong community interest in the day.

“So far we have stalls booked by other Gold Coast multicultural groups, and also popular activities like a Land Train, children’s face painting, stalls, international food, dance workshops pampering sessions, and of course many multicultural performances,” she said.

“There will also be a giant raffle, with the first prize being a Brisbane-Asia-Brisbane return airfare with Eva Air.”

This event is sponsored by the Department of Social Services of Queensland and the Homestates Group.

Community multicultural groups interested should contact Thia Taylor on 0410 507 035 or email seharumgc@gmail.com.
