Voice of Byron regular, Ric Wilson, has some questions about The Elysium Project, a beautification exercise for Lateen Lane, Byron Bay.

Ric asks, “Is anyone aware if there was a tender process to determine who would oversee and administer The Elysium project?

“Or was this just randomly given to Creative Road?”

Byron Shire Council has undertaken to provide $20,000 towards the project.

Despite reports that the businesses in Lateen Road are all in favour of the project, a quick straw poll showed the businesses questioned were against the project.

The main reasons were the negative affect it would have on their business, as Lateen Lane provides service access for them.

Other townspeople question as to whether Council’s $20,000 could be put to more effective use in cleaning up the main street, Railway Park and Apex Park.

But Ric’s question still remains. Was it the result of a legitimate tender process, or was the decision made some other way?
