Voice of Byron regular, John Hamilton, has shared his well thought out idea to help visitors to Byron Bay change their mind and leave again.
John Says, “With the new highway all finished and nice, making Byron Bay just a hop and a skip from QLD (at least up to the BB exit ramp), we should see an enormous influx of QLD license plates lining up for miles going into town this summer holidays !!!
“A suggestion to council, perhaps build a “Change Your Mind” roundabout…location maybe Bayshore Drive turnoff at the BP.
“If the maroon plates (or green) get fed up waiting ages to move…well they could reach the “Change your mind” roundabout with a sign suggesting that very thing…turn round and bugger off somewhere else 🤔…
“I’m not at all suggesting QLD visitors stay away from the Bay…one such issue I do see is the left turn only lane at roundabout next to Police station…now that’s a pain in the arse when used by drivers with no intention of turning left at all !!!
“Blocking more traffic who actually do (QLD) One road in and one road out will definitely lead to the road to nowhere this year…way more than previous years 😖
I like the idea. I’ve wanted to do a Uturn a few times when the traffic doesn’t move (but you can’t until BP!)
