SPANISH ACTRESS Elsa Pataky recently hosted the launch of Spell’s new swimwear collection in Byron Bay.

“Chris [Hemsworth] took me to Byron Bay for a holiday, and he said, ‘Oh, you’re going to love this place,’” she said of how her now husband first introduced her to cult Byron Bay label Spell.

Pataky would soon find herself living in Byron Bay after her 2010 marriage to Hemsworth, and discovered that the label fit in with her new home. “I love a mix of hippy, but it touches on rock ’n’ roll, with colours and prints,” she says on her style now.

“I always had it there, but coming here to Byron, it did come out a bit more to work with this lifestyle.”

Add Elsa Pataky to Spell’s list of celebrity fans. We’re in the top-floor suite of Rae’s on Wategos Beach, with Pataky wearing a dusty pink printed Spell swimsuit underneath a lace skirt (swimsuit as daywear – tick) and a myriad of bracelets and rings.

“They’re all things I’ve accumulated over the years, including some jewellery that I never take off,” she says, describing to Vogue her pieces – including fine diamond rings mixed in with bracelets that are beaded and dangling with shells and other charms.

“Some are things that Chris gave me, or more precious pieces but I think it’s too blingy to wear them all at once here in Byron, so when I came here I mix it up with more kinds of things that I wear every day because it goes more with the style here.”
