THE RIDE-SHARING service uberX is set to be launched in Byron Bay next week.
A spokesman said from 12 midnight on Thursday, 27 October, local residents and visitors would be able to download the uber app and begin using the service.
The ride-sharing service is also on the lookout for new drivers.
Uber spokesman Caspar Nixon said North Coast residents had been calling for uberX for some time.
‘With the local area historically underserved by traditional forms of transport, and the local population swelling with hundreds and thousands of visitors during the summer months, ridesharing will help alleviate pressure on the existing transport network and offer a more affordable and reliable way to get around the local area,’ he said.
