A BYRON Bay woman has been detained by police in Bali for questioning over the death of a local policeman on Kuta Beach.
The body of police officer Wayan Sudarsa was found on Kuta beach around 3:00am local time on Wednesday with deep wounds to his head and neck.
Bali Police had been searching for Sara Connor, from Byron Bay, and British man David Taylor, both of whom are now being questioned.
Police allege witnesses placed both the Australian woman and the British man at the scene on the morning of the murder.
The Denpasar police chief said blood was found on the wall and on a towel in Mr Taylor’s hotel room.
Ms Connor’s credit card and wallet were among belongings found near the crime scene.
A cleansing ceremony has been held on Kuta beach at the place where the police inspector died.
